Your website is a powerful and cost-effective marketing tool. The question is, are you using it effectively?
You pay an upfront fee to publish and design it, and a minimal fee to maintain it. It gives the whole world access to your business 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. But once you have it, how do you get people to see it?
There are lots of ways you can get visitors to your website. Many of them you can do on your own, but if any of these stretch your technical scope or comfort level, J&S Tech Designs can help.
Here’s a list of our favorite tips for drawing people to your website – from easiest to most technical.
1. Create a professional look and feel that encourages trust in your message. Have we harped on this enough? We consider this the easiest step to take, because all you have to do is give us a call.
2. Try paid-for search marketing, aka cost-per-click. Some research suggests that when people browsing the web are actually ready to make a purchase, they use the sponsored links rather than the organic search results.
3. Make sure the search engines can find you. Just because your site is live doesn’t mean Google knows it. Optimize each page of your site, with strong keywords and internal links. Search engines look at the information on each page of your site to determine your ranking on their lists.
4. Get as many people and other sites “talking” about your site as you can. Network like crazy – let as many people as possible know about your website. And be sure to post fresh, interesting and relevant content that will make owners of other sites want to link to your website. These inbound links show the search engines that you are important.
5. Use email marketing. But keep yourself away from the long arm of Johnny Law and do not spam. Not only will it keep your website running without a hitch, but your customers will appreciate your marketing integrity.
This is just a short and sweet summary of the items on our list. If you’re interested in delving into the topic a little deeper, just sign up for our Knowledge eXchange (to the right of this article). Don't let the "subscribe me" button worry you...we always give you the option to stop your subscription and we don't blast out sales emails that fill your inbox every week. We do, however, write on this topic occasionally and would be glad to share our knowledge with you as new ideas come into our radar. And just for the record, we never share our email list.
Feel free to use this article – and all the others on our website – however you wish. Forward it to your friends and colleagues…use it for your own website…frame it and hang it on your wall…and then take a moment to let us know how it worked for you. We’d also love to know what you’ve done that has been successful for your business.
