Top Ideas for Improving Your Website Traffic

Having a website is a powerful and cost effective marketing tool. You pay an upfront fee to publish and design it, a minimal fee to maintain it, and it gives the whole world access to your business 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The question is, are you using it effectively? We have spoken in several other articles on our site about the proven importance of a professional look and feel, but once you have that, how can you compel people to see it? There are lots of ways you can boost that interest. Many of them you can do on your own… any that are beyond your technical scope or comfort level J&S Tech Designs can help you implement.

Feel free to use this list – and the more detailed one that goes with it - however you wish. Forward it to your friends and colleagues… use it as a checklist for your own site… frame it and make it art to hang on your wall… and then take a moment to let us know how it worked for you or if we missed something that has been successful for your business.

Here’s a list of our favorite tips – easiest to most technical.

1. Have a professional look and feel that encourages trust in your message (have we harped on this enough? See our home page or this report if you don't know why you need one. We consider this the easiest, because all you have to do is give us a call.)

2. Implement paid for search marketing (aka cost per click) – some suggest that when people are actually ready to make a choice, they use the sponsored links rather than the organic search results.

3. Make sure the search engines can find you – just because you are live doesn’t mean Google knows it.

4. Make sure that each page of your site is optimized – from keywords to internal links, search engines are looking for information on each page to determine your ranking on their list.

5. Get as many people and other sites “talking” about your site as you can – networking is the answer here. Other sites talking about your site shows the search engines that you are important.

6. Use email marketing – keep yourself outside the reach of the long arm of Johnny Law and stay well above the spam laws. Not only will it keep you running without a hitch, but your customers will appreciate your marketing integrity.

I wanted to keep this article short and sweet, so I have just summarized the items on our list above. We would be glad to send you a more complete article with an advanced explanation of the topics covered here if you are interested in delving a little deeper. Just sign up for our Knowledge eXchange (to the right of this article) and we’ll send you the gory details from the above list. Don't let the "subscribe me" button worry you... we always give you the option to stop your subscription and we don't blast out sales emails that fill your inbox every week. We do, however, write on this topic occasionally and would be glad to share our knowledge with you as new ideas come into our radar.

And just for the record, we never share our email list.

You can also access previous article archives by becoming a member and logging into our site (for free, of course).  Click here to do that...
