Failed Falcon 9 Rocket to Improve SpaceX Company Culture

There's no question that SpaceX is at the cutting edge of technology and innovation right now, but you can bet that all eyes are on Elon Musk and his company when issues like a failed rocket launch come up.  Recently, on June 28th, SpaceX launched its Falcon 9 rocket –only to fail about two minutes after takeoff from Cape Canaveral.  It is suspected that a faulty two-foot-long, one-inch-thick strut was the cause of this failure.  At the time, the rocket was carrying about 4,000lbs of supplies to the International Space Station (ISS).  The lesson here, I guess, is that even wildly successful companies who have become accustomed to routine things going smoothly (successful launches in SpaceX’s case) can have simple mistakes or malfunctions that create big problems.  Because a recent history of success may be contributing to a sort of complacency within SpaceX’s company culture, this failed rocket launch can actually be a benefit and a lesson to learn from.

How Making the Switch to an iPhone Will Change Your Life

Well, it’s official.  I’m an Apple convert.  Recently, my last phone bit the dust (kind of literally) so I purchased an iPhone 6.  My first iPhone.  I have to say, it is kind of a game changer.  Sure, I’ll look back and remember fondly the times that I wanted to throw my previous phone against the wall.  And yes, I will have to think of new things to do to fill the time I used to spend restarting my phone regularly.  Every five minutes.  Of my life.  But I think I can persevere, and I hope to come out the other side.  So, what is it that makes my iPhone so great?  Well, it’s hard to say because my user experience has been so absolutely seamless.

Google's Project Loon Set to Take Over the Sky with Big Updates

Google’s Project Loon is an effort to bring internet connectivity to areas all around the world that don’t currently have access to it.  They aim to accomplish this task with a fleet of balloons that are launched into the stratosphere and give LTE connectivity to a perimeter of ground area.  Project Loon has been a big focus this last week as we’ve received news from Google I/O, the company's developer conference held in San Francisco, that Google has two major updates regarding its Project Loon program.  We may be keeping an eye to the sky as it seems that there will most likely be a lot more Google balloons flying about before we know it.

Let the Beacon Technology Explosion Begin

We introduced you to the iBeacon technology back in 2013, and since the initial shock waves hit everyone’s systems, we haven’t checked back in with you a ton.  Lately though, this Beacon technology is making a huge impression.  In recent headlines, Apple’s iBeacon is the set standard of this technology, Google has swooped in with Beacon technology of their own, a whole town in Georgia was taken over by Beacons, and Facebook is offering free Bluetooth Beacons for business owners.
