Using Canva to Create Free Graphics

Finding images to use in social media marketing, content marketing, and as images on your personal website can be difficult.  You want to be sure that you’re not using images that you shouldn’t be.  This gets a little hairy nowadays.  Images that you thought were free and available for reuse are often times not.  What’s the safest route? Take your own photos or create your own graphics.

3 Things I Really Wish LinkedIn Would Improve

As a social media marketer and content writer, I use LinkedIn daily.  While I’m thankful for it –there are a few features that could use some extra attention.  From a user experience standpoint, I’m not exactly thrilled.  There are some GREAT benefits to using LinkedIn.  This is why I use it in the first place and while I’ll continue to use it. However, my life would be a whole lot easier if they’d address a few of these main complaints I have.

How to Get People to Buy Into Your Great Idea

Most people who think of a great idea want to hit the ground running.  While I can appreciate the sentiment, most people blazing a new trail are going to have a rougher start.  It may be rocky at the start, but eventually you CAN start running.  So, you have a great idea, and you’re hoping people will hear about it and think it’s great too?  But how do you take this concept in your head and convey it to others?

The Death of Instagram

Instagram has been making some big changes and a lot of people aren’t very happy about it.  They’ve changed their model.  Sponsored posts, formula based arrangement of posts, and more.  Will this have users flocking away from it? We think so.  Photo and video sharing apps are a dime a dozen right now; if people aren’t getting what they want from a social network or app –they are moving on.

The Recovery: Winning Customers Over After You Screw Up

Of course great customer service is key to gaining and retaining customers, but the real test is how you react when something goes wrong, when you screw something up so badly that it could make or break the relationship, that moment when you realize what happened was not a simple mistake but a monumental screw up…

Agile Development is Dead: A Hybrid is Born

Word is that Agile Development is dead.  People have been saying this for quite some time now and I have to say –I agree.  Agile Development, in its purest form that is, is dead.  It did have a long and productive life. Because of this, I think it’s necessary to reflect back on Agile Development and realize that, even though its purest form is dead, there is room for evolution.

Do Not Mix Business with Personal: 4 Steps to Keeping Transactions Separate

As the wife of a very successful entrepreneur, I felt compelled to write this blog post. Last Sunday, my husband and I took the kids to the local movie theater to watch Zootopia (fantastic kids movie by the way). When we get to the ticket booth and are ready to pay, my husband pulls out his business credit card.
