Project Loon & Titan? Countdown to Liftoff

When we checked in with Project Loon last, a deal had been signed between Sri Lanka’s government and Google “for local telecommunication companies to enable a connection to the balloon network.  [Google’s plan was to use] their solar panel-powered balloons to float in the stratosphere and send down internet connectivity.  Although this is a country of over 22 million –only about 1 in five people have access to the internet.”  Now, nearing two months later, liftoff is in sight for Project Loon.

Working as a Consultant: Importance of "I" vs "We" in Consulting

As a consultant, I’ve found that the use of pronouns is actually a much bigger deal than you might think.  When I walk into a project, it stands out so people that I say “you” all the time.  “You” all need to do this.  “You” should be focused on this at this point. “Your” main priority should be this. The companies that I consult for often ask me why it is that I spend my time saying “you, you, you” when they believe I should be saying “we” or “us”.  Well, the answer is pretty simple.

Not Your Parents' Family Car - The Model X Revealed

Now that the Model X has been fully revealed, we can say that Tesla has officially made the family car cool.  Of all the amazing new specs that make the Model X great, and there are a lot of them, the overall practicality of the car is brilliant.  You may or may not know that Elon Musk has small five children.  This car is a parent’s best friend.  Now I’m not saying that the appeal of the Model X is limited to buyers with families, I’m just saying that dad may not have to drive that minivan after all.  That is, if he has over $132,000 to spend on a new car.

Working as a Consultant: "They" vs "We" in Talking to the Customer’s Customer

In our last article, we shared the importance of distinguishing between “I” and “We” when consulting for a company.  When you’re speaking to your customer/client, you want to be sure to use “you”.  Why?  In a nutshell, it’s not your company, it’s not your business, and it’s not your end goal.  So, in those situations, it is important to say “you”.  “You” should be focused on this because, at the end of the day, “you” do need to do this stuff not “me”.  This is not my company, it is yours. Now that we’re wrapped up in pronouns, what about when you talk to the customer’s customer as a consultant?
